Lilac Blossom Sweater Pattern (English)
The lilac blossom sweater is an elegant, floral inspired sweater featuring different lace and structural stitch patterns, which come together to create forms reminiscent of lilacs, my favorite spring flower. The relaxed, drop shoulder fit provides a nice juxtaposition with the delicate floral motifs, creating a piece that is suitable all year round, easily elevating the everyday with the ability to be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. The sleeves are bracelet length, providing a comfortable fit for wearing during warmer weather. This sweater is light and slightly thin, making it the perfect sweater to wear during all seasons of the year: layer during colder seasons to bring a bust of springtime cheer into the depth of winter, or wear it without layers during the spring and summer to warm yourself from a cool breeze with a sweater completely reflective of the warm and bright season upon us.
The lilac blossom sweater is worked from the top down, first the back yoke is worked and then stitches are picked up at either shoulder before both shoulders are worked separately. The shoulders are then joined at the center of the neckline where more stitches are cast on to complete the neck line. The front panel is then continued until the length of the underarms is achieved, where the front and back panels are then joined in the round. The body is then worked in the round until desired length is achieved before the body is completed with ribbing. The sleeves are worked separately by picking up stitches around the arm hole openings and working the charts across the sleeves while simultaneously working decreases until desired length is achieved.
